Corporate Cupiding

When most of us think about the concept of networking, we see individuals communicating with each other. It can also involve interactions between corporations/organizations. Years ago, when Fields Associates founder Martha R. A. Fields was searching for a term to describe what happens when corporations come together to network, and share best, interesting and radical practices, she devised the term “corporate cupiding.”

What is corporate cupiding?

1. Helping organizations love and learn from each other, as well as the people within them.
2. Connecting organizations together to explore best, interesting and radical practices and win/win solutions to issues.
3. The act of bringing groups and/or individuals in organizations and corporations together to help them expand their business and/or relationships.
Source: Martha R. A. Fields

Quite often, Fields Associates practices corporate cupiding through its work in and outside corporations. Holding conferences where diverse companies and industries are invited or speaking at professional association meetings and dispensing information about best, interesting and radical business practices are just a few ways that corporate cupiding is practiced by Fields Associates staff.

Corporate cupiding can also take place inside an organization. The corporate cupid can be very effective when he shoots his darts and brings together departments or divisions and the individuals within them. Often, organizations have best, interesting and radical practices inside but people are not aware of them and how they might be utilized effectively in other parts of the company. Here, Fields Associates works as a corporate cupid to bring various entities inside organizations together to share practices, policies and procedures as well as build stronger working relationships.

Soaring higher as a Corporate Cupid, Fields Associates assembles respected experts in their field to deliver programs and services. They often form strategic alliances and collaborate with some of the world’s top thinkers and organizations. In addition, they successfully work with senior management teams, boards and employees to enhance, support and develop their overall business strategies.

Examples of Strategic Alliances

Building lasting strategic alliances is a large part of what we do. In the past, we have partnered with such organizations as:

* the Harvard University Office of Employment - produced a Diversity Recruitment Resource Guide

* FORTUNE magazine - hosted a networking dinner where top companies had the opportunity to learn more about FORTUNE and vice versa

* Linkage, Inc. - assisted them in producing and co-chairing the Annual Summit on Leading Diversity which is one of the nation’s most prestigious Diversity conferences for corporations and diversity practitioners

* FleetBoston Financial, the Gillette Company and Harvard University - brought these organizations together through corporate-cupding to host a series on Recruiting and Retaining Indispensable Employees

* The National Black MBA Association - with this organization developed and implemented a “breakthrough series” to help members acquire advance management skills during turbulent times

* UnityFirst.com/African American Newswire - worked with this organization to sponsor seminars to bring together communities and CEOs from companies such as Bows, TJX Companies (Marshals, Home Goods, TJ Maxx, A.J. Wright, Metro West Chamber of Commerce and Staples)

* Society for Human Resource Management and NorthEast Human Resource Association - developed a website toolkit which provides best, interesting and radical practices about the nation’s top organizations and what they are doing around issues related to recruiting and retaining diverse employees

Fields Associates also collaborates frequently with top thinkers and renowned experts to assemble and deliver successful programs that exceed client expectations.

    Overview

    The rules of the workplace have changed and so have the players. Experience is no longer defined solely on how long you've been in your job or the organization. Because of their technological savvy, in some instances individuals in their early 20's and 30's are more knowledgeable and have replaced Baby Boomers and Matures as "seasonal" workers.

    There are currently three generations in the workforce - the Matures/Older Workers, the Baby Boomers and the Generation Xers. Generation Y is rapidly coming of workforce age.

    What has to happen to create a positive work environment when Generation X meet (and sometimes collides) with Baby Boomers and Mature Workers?

    If you're interested in managing more effectively across generations and want to learn about some approaches that work, this seminar is for you.

  • Tactics to help recruit and retain multigenerational talent
  • How to create positive work environments based upon where employees are in their life cycle
  • Who are Generation Xers, Baby Boomers and Mature Workers

    Positive Ripple Effects

    Today’s managers and employees exist in an ever-changing work world where time to plan is a rare commodity. Yet, for every action your management team takes, there is a reaction from your employees. This creates a positive or negative ripple effect that spreads throughout the organization.

    Fields Associates partners with clients' management to create positive ripples towards:

    Fields Associates Executive Coaching

    Our personalized and confidential work with CEOs, presidents, board members, senior managers and project teams has assisted them in refocusing their strategic plans and directions, and setting measurable goals.

    Fields Associates has helped them with:
    change management
    diversity

    connecting human resources with business strategies
    so that what is aimed for is attained.

    No two organizations are ever alike. That’s why Fields Associates offers practical, custom-tailored seminars, both on and offsite, that maximize learning and allow participants, regardless of their level within the organization, to use the knowledge gained immediately.

    Training That Works

    Our programs are a cost-effective way to educate managers and ensure that everyone obtains the same knowledge base of information. Our multifaceted approaches range from custom-designed seminars for all levels of staff to executive and managerial coaching.

    Team Building

    Fields Associates has increased productivity and prevented low morale by working both with multidisciplinary (cross-functional) teams and multicultural workgroups. We also have a successful track record helping teams adjust during and after major organizational change such as mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and downsizings.

    Meeting Facilitation

    Do you need guidance in planning or facilitating an important event such as an annual meeting or retreat? Fields Associates has helped some of the nation’s top organizations get the outcomes they’ve needed through:

    * Retreats
    * Conferences
    * Goal and Priority Setting
    * Annual Meetings

    * Lecture/Keynote Speakers

    Focus Groups and Needs Assessments

    Employees and customers are often the experts when it comes to answers about diversity programs, the pros and cons of organizational culture or what’s lacking in products or services. Unfortunately, they may be reluctant to be candid directly with you.

    Fields Associates dynamic facilitators will help your employees and customers voice their concerns and suggestions in a non-threatening, comfortable environment. Then, we will analyze their feedback and report the findings and recommendations.
